Jay D. Jacobson practices in the areas of personal injury and wrongful death. Since his admittance to the New York State Bar in 1994, Mr. Jacobson has handled injury and death cases resulting from negligence involving automobiles, municipal buses, charter buses, school buses, motorcycles, bicycles, commercial and residential premises, negligent security, sidewalk defects, street defects, highway defects, construction defects, falls from homes and buildings, scaffolding falls, unsafe construction sites, physical assaults, sexual assaults, physician care, hospital care, chiropractic care, childcare neglect, and more. Mr. Jacobson has recovered millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements on behalf of his clients over the years.

Mr. Jacobson is a member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, New York State Bar Association, American Bar Association New York Sate Association of Trial Lawyers, Nassau County Bar Association and Trial Lawyers Care, an organization that offers free representation for the families of those killed in the attacks of September 11th. He is also the Vice-Chairman of the Nassau County Bar Association's Plaintiff's Roundtable Committee and has lectured on liability issues for the Nassau Academy of Law.

Mr. Jacobson is originally from Brooklyn, New York but was raised in Woodbury, Long Island and is a graduate of Syosset High School with honors. He attended the State University of New York at Albany, where he graduated with a B.S. in political science from the prestigious Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy. After graduation from college, Mr. Jacobson became a private investigator working in Suffolk County for insurance companies and their attorneys, assisting in the defense of personal injury and wrongful death actions. That experience gave him valuable insight into how insurance companies and their law firms defend the claims he now brings on behalf of his clients. Private investigation also gave him invaluable first-hand knowledge of accident scene investigation and reconstruction, critical in assessing the strengths and weaknesses of every plaintiff case he handles to date. Mr. Jacobson still makes it his habit to visit the  accident scenes of many of his clients.

In 1990, Mr. Jacobson relocated from Long Island to Manhattan and entered Brooklyn Law School. He graduated from Brooklyn Law School in 1993. During law school and after graduation, he worked in downtown Manhattan at The Law Offices of Joseph T. Mullen, Jr. In 1994, he began working at the boutique firm of Pollack, Pollack, Isaac & DeCicco, also located in Downtown Manhattan, where he practiced in the areas of plaintiff personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, of counsel litigation and appeals. In 1998, Mr. Jacobson left PPID and opened up his own law firm located in Midtown Manhattan, continuing to practice in the areas of plaintiff personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, of counsel litigation and appeals.

In 2000, Mr. Jacobson joined the established firm of Foley & Griffin, creating Foley, Griffin & Jacobson. In 2001, Joseph A. Faria, joined the firm to create Foley, Griffin, Jacobson & Faria, LLP.

Mr. Jacobson lives with his three children in Nassau County, Long Island and splits his practice between Long Island and New York City.
