Jay D. Jacobson practices in the areas of personal injury and wrongful death. Since his admittance to the New York State Bar in 1994, Mr. Jacobson has handled injury and death cases resulting from negligence involving automobiles, municipal buses, charter buses, school buses, motorcycles, bicycles, commercial and residential premises, negligent security, sidewalk defects, street defects, highway defects, construction defects, falls from homes and buildings, scaffolding falls, unsafe construction sites, physical assaults, sexual assaults, physician care, hospital care, chiropractic care, childcare neglect, and more. Mr. Jacobson has recovered millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements on behalf of his clients over the years. Mr. Jacobson is a member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, New York State Bar Association, American Bar Association, American Trial Lawyers Association, Nassau County Bar Association and Trial Lawyers Care, an organization that offers free representation for the families of those killed in the attacks of September 11th. Mr Jacobson is also admitted to practice in the federal Southern District of New York. Mr. Jacobson is originally from Brooklyn, New York but was raised in Woodbury, Long Island and is a graduate of Syosset High School with honors. He attended the State University of New York at Albany, where he graduated with a B.S. in political science from the prestigious Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy. After graduation, Mr. Jacobson became a private investigator working in Suffolk County in the field of personal injury and wrongful death, but for insurance companies and their attorneys. This gives him valuable insight into how insurance companies and their law firms defend the claims he now brings on behalf of his clients. Private investigation also gave him invaluable first-hand knowledge of accident scene investigation and reconstruction, critical in assessing the strengths and weaknesses of every plaintiff case he handles to date. Mr. Jacobson still makes it his habit to visit every accident scene of his clients. In 1990, Mr. Jacobson relocated from Long Island to Manhattan and entered Brooklyn Law School. He graduated from Brooklyn Law School in 1993. During law school and after graduation, he worked in downtown Manhattan at The Law Offices of Joseph T. Mullen, Jr. In 1994, he began working at the boutique firm of Pollack, Pollack, Isaac & DeCico, located in Downtown Manhattan, where he practiced in the areas of personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, of counsel litigation and appeals. In 1998, Mr. Jacobson left PPID and opened up his own law firm located in Midtown Manhattan, continuing to practice in the areas of personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, of counsel litigation and appeals. In 2000, Mr. Jacobson joined the established firm of Foley & Griffin, located in Mineola, creating Foley, Griffin & Jacobson. In 2001, Joseph A. Faria, joined the firm to create Foley, Griffin, Jacobson & Faria, LLP. Mr. Jacobson and his wife, also an attorney, have their three children and live on Long Island in Nassau County. |
