How Long Will My Suspension Last?

The law requires people charged with DWI in New York to surrender their licenses at their initial court appearance. If you are facing your first offense and agreed to Breathalyzer and blood tests, you will have your license suspended for a minimum of 30 days. If you refused testing, you will automatically lose your license for six months, regardless of conviction. Prior DWI convictions may result in longer suspension times or a revoked license.

It may be possible to seek a temporary license that allows you to drive to and from work.
