Wall Of Shame Torn Down

We are proud to announce that our partner Brian Griffin, head of the firm’s criminal defense department, has successfully argued in front of Nassau County Supreme Court Justice, William LaMarca, a pivotal case involving the constitutional rights of those arrested in Nassau County for DWI. On behalf of a firm client, Mr. Griffin argued that the Nassau County Executive, Thomas Suozzi, improperly placed her name, information and ‘mug shot’ photo upon Nassau County’s “Wall of Shame” website. The website was devoted to placing the names and ‘mug shots’ of all persons arrested in the County for Driving While Intoxicated. The Court agreed with Mr. Griffin’s argument that the placement of our client upon the “Wall of Shame” amounted to a violation of her due process rights under the federal and state constitution. As a response to this challenge, the County Executive has removed from the “Wall of Shame” those persons not yet convicted of DWI. Crime Lab Attack Overturns Conviction

We are proud to announce that partner Brian Griffin, head of the firm’s criminal defense department, has successfully argued in front of Nassau County Court Judge George Peck, the first case of its kind involving the problems of the Nassau County Crime Lab. On behalf of a firm client, Mr. Griffin successfully argued that the long, steady and widespread problems of the Nassau County Crime Lab required that the conviction of our client be thrown out. During Mr. Griffin’s hearing in connection with the crime lab, the Nassau County Executive and Nassau County District Attorney made the unprecedented decision to close the crime lab.  You can see the decision by clicking here of by visiting our In The Media page.
