  • There were, on average, a total of 1,098 fatalities as a result of unintentional vehicle traffic-related injuries.
    • That means out of every 100,000 New Yorkers, 5.6 were killed.
    • Amongst the highest death rates were males, people aged 65 and above, followed by people aged 20-24 years.
  • There were, on average, a total of 12,093 hospitalizations every year as a result of unintentional vehicle traffic-related injuries.
    • Out of every 100,000 New Yorkers, a total of 61.5 were hospitalized.
    • Amongst the highest death rates were males, people aged 20-24, followed by people aged 65 and above.
  • There were, on average, a total of 136,913 emergency room visits every year as a result of unintentional vehicle traffic-related injuries.
    • Out of every 100,000 New Yorkers, a total of 696.6 received medical treatment.
    • Amongst the highest hospitalization rates were females, people aged 20-24, followed by people aged 15-19.
